Blow Back Carbine, Rifle, 9 MM, Smith & Wesson Co., Springfield, MA

In 1941 the U.S. Army adopted the Winchester designed Carbine to fire a newly developed Carbine cartridge. In the later stages of World War II, around 1944, Smith & Wesson began experimenting with Carbine design. Over the next two years, until the end of the war, Smith & Wesson built several experimental Carbines.
