This image illustrates the second station of the Stations of the Cross and shows Jesus accepting the cross and beginning his journey towards crucifixion. Spectators along the road on which Jesus traveled believed that he was a common criminal and ridiculed him. The story reminds followers to retain the strength of their beliefs even in adversity.
