D'Amour Museum of Fine Arts
Woman seated on chair at center. She is in a red dress and faces the viewer while holding a necklace in her hands and a box on jewels on her lap.
Currier & Ives produced four different versions of The Day Before Marriage. The Bride’s Jewels and all featured a seated woman anxiously contemplating her future as she prepares for her wedding. The bright red dress of the bride-to-be, a symbol of her single life, offers a beautiful contrast to the pearl necklace she is considering for her wedding day. This print is a companion to A Year After Marriage. The Mother’s Jewel.
