D'Amour Museum of Fine Arts
Washington standing in front of a window to right of a table draped in blue fabric over corner. Sword pointed down in his proper left hand, other hand extended out. Although Sid’s inventory says, #265, there is no #265 printed on face of print.
Americans revered George Washington’s multi-faceted personality. He was a heroic soldier, celebrated statesman and leader of the new nation. Although posed in a formal military posture, Washington is not shown in his General’s uniform. Instead, he is depicted as a civilian in this straight- forward portrait of a man who is dedicated to his country.
