Naismith County Short-sleeve Shirt
Basketball is one of Springfield’s many firsts. Created by James Naismith who was seeking a game to keep his Springfield College student-athletes occupied when the other bad-weather option was calisthenics (which made the student-athletes surly).
The Naismith County shirt celebrates this Springfield first with an image of a vintage leather basketball with words “Naismith County.”
Fun fact: Spaulding created the first basketball to Naismith’s specs right here in Chicopee Falls.
