Currier & Ives published numerous prints appropriate for decoration in a child’s room. In Baby’s First Visit, three children, two girls and a boy, sit on the floor playing with a little girl who is reading a book. One of the children holds a horseshoe-shaped wreath of flowers, a symbol of good luck and protection. The flowers in the vase and basket are also symbolic of the children’s innocence and youth.
