Enjoy a guided tour of Olana, the home of Hudson Valley artist Frederic Edwin Church. Learn about the designs and concepts that influenced Frederic Church and architect Calvert Vaux in siting and designing this Middle Eastern-inspired Hudson Valley villa. Explore the intact, richly decorated historic interiors of the main floor, including the stunning central Court Hall, Isabel Church’s Sitting Room designed around her husband’s masterpiece El Khasne, Petra (1874), and Frederic Church’s richly appointed painting studio. Enjoy lunch at the Culinary Institute, located at the former St. Andrew-on-Hudson Jesuit seminary. The CIA has a rich and long tradition of offering the highest quality culinary education going back to 1946, when it was first established as the New Haven Restaurant Institute in downtown New Haven, CT. At that time, it was the first and only school of its kind in the United States to train returning World War II veterans in the culinary arts.
