Spend the day in Old Lyme, Connecticut, with a visit to the Florence Griswold Museum, the historic home of the renowned Lyme Art Colony. Explore the Museum’s exceptional collection of American Impressionist paintings by artists who were drawn to the picturesque beauty of Old Lyme and its surrounding landscape. Many of the country’s most celebrated early 20th-century artists gathered here, and several left their mark by painting decorative panels inside Miss Florence Griswold’s boardinghouse – a unique tradition that became a symbol of artistic distinction among their peers.
Next, experience the enchanting special exhibition, Wee Faerie Village, where whimsical faerie homes and miniature worlds are crafted from nature’s treasures, including sparkling gemstones, rare minerals, and shimmering metals. Stroll along a scenic walking trail featuring imaginative, faerie-sized creations designed by teams of local artists. Set throughout the Museum’s beautiful grounds, these themed installations are made from natural and found materials, creating a magical adventure for visitors of all ages. A delicious group lunch at the Florence Griswold Cafe is included.
