Man, woman and children to left in image. House in background. Pastoral scene of village to right in image.
Currier & Ives produced numerous images of country life. This scene of a prosperous farm shows a man and woman with children playing around them. Fresh air and physical exercise were considered important to a child’s well being and an early evening walk was a traditional activity. The pastel-colored paints capture the glow of the sky as sunset nears.
