Pastoral scene, evening sky, young boy and Ben Franklin flying kite during lightening storm; house to right in background.
Although Benjamin Franklin was honored in only a few Currier & Ives prints, he was among the first of the nation’s leaders to be recognized for his many achievements. Known as a statesman, diplomat, philosopher, publisher and inventor, Franklin was a favorite of the American public. In this image, Franklin is celebrated as a man of science as he undertakes his legendary kite-flying experiment with his son William by his side.
