After John Cameron American, 1830-1876 This dramatic racing scene shows six champion horses of the day drawing two-wheeled sulkies around the track as dust billows under their wheels. The horses and their drivers are described beneath the image. Horseracing was a popular pastime in the 19th century and the artist John Cameron created many images for Currier & Ives that reflected the American fascination with the races.
