Here, a group of firemen from Excelsior Company No. 2, of 21 Henry Street, New York City, are shown pulling a pumper-wagon from the firehouse in response to a night alarm. The clock inside the firehouse reads 1:22. At the left, Nathaniel Currier, a volunteer fire fighter with the company, runs to join his colleagues, James Merritt Ives and George B. Ives. This print is one in a series of six that was produced to acknowledge the bravery of fire fighters.
