This exhibition honors the deep connection between Springfield, Massachusetts, and The Great Blasket Island off the coast of County Kerry, Ireland. Despite the 3,000-mile distance, the Irish immigration from across centuries brought families, food, and culture to Springfield and greater Western Massachusetts.
Celebrate the stories The Great Blasket Islanders shared about their Irish homeland, and learn how these newcomers, whether they immigrated in the 1840s or the 1950s, continue to shape our city today.
