New Date!
Tour the New York State Capitol building, a marvel of late 19th-century architectural grandeur. Three teams of architects, including Henry Hobson Richardson worked on the design. Following a group lunch, enjoy a guided tour of the Albany Institute of History & Art, one of the oldest museums in the US with one of the finest collections of art and historical objects documenting the life and culture of New York’s Upper Hudson Valley from the late 17th century to the present. In 2017, eighty-three Hudson River School paintings were installed in the Christine and George R. Hearst III Gallery on the museum’s third floor. These landscapes, painted by artists like Thomas Cole, Frederic Church, Jasper Cropsey, Asher Durand, Sarah Cole, and numerous others, capture America’s scenic grandeur in all its magnificence from rugged coastal scenery to imposing mountains and rivers.
