It’s a Bird… It’s a Plane… It’s Superhero Week!

Today’s Highlights

Artist Demonstration, noon-4 pm
Meet painter Luke Cavagnac of the Invisible Fountain.  Luke’s colorful, pop-art style can be seen on murals in Easthampton and he focuses on creating affordable, accessible artwork. 

Super Hero Face Painting, 11 am-2 pm
Visit Professor Knows A. Lot and get your face painted like one of your favorite superheroes!

Ongoing Activities

Museum Bingo & Book Giveaway, 10 am-3:45 pm
Grab your card in the Welcome Center and check off boxes as you spend your day at the museums! Get four in a row and take your card to the Art Discovery Center by 3:45 pm to get a free book!

Meet a Super Hero, 11 am-2 pm
From Spiderman or Black Widow to Wonder Woman or Superman, you never know who might be patrolling the museum galleries. Bonus: check out the cape and tights worn in the first Superman movie!

Spidey Senses and Adaptations, 11 am-12:15 pm & 1:45-3 pm
Meet the museum’s Chilean rose tarantula and learn all about arachnid adaptations, like spinning sticky webs, venom, quick movements, and special senses!

Wall of Heroes
Let the world know who your hero is! Whether he or she someone famous or someone right from your own home, tell us who your personal hero is and why!

Design Your Own Hero Shield, 11 am-3 pm
From Ancient Greeks and Romans to our Marvel and DC favorites, shields have been an important weapon and defensive tool for thousands of years! Color your own shield with colors and images that empower you.

Super Animals, 11 am-3 pm
Which of your favorite super heroes’ or super villains’ special powers were inspired by animals? Grab a card and see if you can find an animal in the gallery that inspired a super-powered character.

Art Discovery Center, noon-4 pm
Trace Chinese characters, try on costumes, play gallery games, peek under lift-up panels on the Wall of Symbols to discover the meaning behind Asian motifs, put on a puppet show, and make an art project.
