Tour the Union Church of Pocantico Hills to view the light, color and art in the nine stained glass windows by Marc Chagall and Henri Matisse’s last commissioned work-the Rose Window. Learn the history behind this special commission by the Rockefeller family. Following a group lunch at nearby Philips Manor, we’ll tour Lyndhurst Mansion, one of America’s finest Gothic Mansions transformed into an extravagant wonderland of holiday splendor filling the mansion with elaborate tableaus of décor. Dozens of Christmas trees are expertly decorated and designed to complement the elegant period furnishings within the rooms of the house. Designed in 1838, by Alexander Jackson Davis, Lyndhurst was owned in succession by New York City Mayor, William Paulding, Jr., merchant George Merritt and by Gilded Age railroad tycoon, Jay Gould. The 67 park-like surrounding grounds are an outstanding example of 19th century English landscape design.
