Concert on the Quad by Golden Bird, Noon-1 pm
Rachel F. Hirsch and Kevin Dee are Golden Bird- an acoustic duo of vocals, guitar, and ukulele. Bringing their classical background to renditions of pop, jazz, musical theater, folk tunes, and original music, their relaxing vibe is perfect for an afternoon of music. Bring a blanket or chair, or just enjoy the Spring grass while you listen and dance to some of your favorite tunes.

Get a photo or a high five with one of Dr. Seuss’ most beloved characters.
Cat’s Corner, 10 am-4 pm
Activities within the space seek to merge art and literacy, allowing children build and utilize a diverse vocabulary and reading comprehension skills while creating an original piece of artwork. The emphasis on thoughtful reflection through reading and art-making, and the incorporation of English Language Arts curriculum into artwork supports the city’s literacy initiatives.
Family Science Adventures, 11 am-2 pm
Explore the Science Museum and find the Roving Scientist. You never know what kind of demonstrations and hands-on activities they have in store for you!
The Story of Chalk, 11 am-3 pm
What is chalk? How is it formed? How is color added? Learn how sidewalk chalk is delivered from the bottom of the ocean into your hands, and even make a stick of chalk of your own to take home.
Live Animal Demo, 11 am-3 pm
Meet the reptiles that call the Springfield Science Museum home and learn about their adaptations, diets, and behaviors from one of our experienced museum educators. Animals may include the ball python, milk snake, bearded dragon, box turtle, and painted turtle.
Art & Animals Scavenger Hunt, 11 am-3 pm
Explore the collections of the D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts through paintings and sculptures of our furry and feathered friends. Look for art by Picasso, Currier & Ives, Roesen, and many more. Find 10 and get a small prize.
Art Discovery Center, Noon-4 pm
Trace Chinese characters, try on costumes, play gallery games, peek under lift-up panels on the Wall of Symbols to discover the meaning behind Asian motifs, put on a puppet show, and make an art project. Today’s art project: Draw with Chalk Pastels.
