Culinary Arts : American Cookbooks and Their Authors

May 6, 2023 @ 10:00 am12:30 pm
| Cost: $38 | Cost for Members: $32

Register by April 28!

The first American cookbook — American Cookery by Amelia Simmons — was published in 1796. Other women followed in Simmons’ path, starting a tradition of American cookbooks dominated by women — unlike the French tradition, which is male-dominated. This class features America’s cookbook authors and their work, starting with Amelia Simmons and ending with recent writers such as Julia Child and Marcella Hazan, (and not entirely ignoring men such as James Beard and Craig Claiborne.) Includes taste of spring recipes from iconic books
