Dinosaur Discoveries: Ancient Fossils, New Ideas, 10 am-5 pm
Be among the first to experience our latest special exhibit. Using a combination of captivating computer simulations and incredible lifelike models, Dinosaur Discoveries introduces a dynamic vision of dinosaurs and the scientists who study them.
Dinosaur Games and Stories with Sea Tea Improv, noon-2 pm
An afternoon of fun and games with a dino-mite twist. Visitors will be entertained by made-up on-the-spot stories, characters, and games entirely based on audience suggestions!
Ongoing Activities
Tech Discovery, 11 am-3 pm
Try Snap Curcuit, Ozobot robots and code with Makey Makeys. Recommended for ages 8-12. Tech Discovery is a year-long series presented by the Springfield Central Library, supported by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Measuring Dinosaurs, 11 am-3 pm
How long was a Cryolophosaurus? How about Mapusaurus or a Compsognathus? Choose a dinosaur and roll out our extra-long tape to find out how long the dinosaurs really were.
Dinosaurs Alive, 11 am-3 pm
Learn what modern animals are related to or directly descended from dinosaurs and how we interact with them in our everyday lives. Compare dinosaur claws and see how many dinosaurs you can find around us today.
Family Science Adventures, 11 am-2 pm
Explore the Science Museum and find the Roving Scientist. You never know what kind of demonstrations and hands-on activities they have in store for you!
Art Discovery Center, noon-4 pm
Trace Chinese characters, try on costumes, play gallery games, peek under lift-up panels on the Wall of Symbols to discover the meaning behind Asian motifs, put on a puppet show, and make an art project. Today: Decorate a Stegosaurus.
