Spend a day at the opera in Cooperstown with the spectacular production of The Pirates of Penzance at the Glimmerglass Festival! Enjoy orchestra seating in the Alice Busch Opera Theater for this great Gilbert & Sullivan classic, combining soaring vocal lines and slapstick comedy. This colorful, family-friendly production returns to Glimmerglass for the first time in nearly 20 years and features elegant Victorian ladies and an aristocratic band of pirates stuck in perpetual adolescence. Curran’s hit production from Opera Theatre of Saint Louis kicks it up a notch at Glimmerglass with the addition of a corps of professional dancers. We have orchestra seating En route, Walter Carrol will provide an enlightening lecture on the music and artistry of this production. Since its opening in 1987, the Alice Busch Opera Theater has been home to more than 100 productions, many of which have been world premieres. A pre-concert lunch is provided.
