Reports abound with news about water on Mars, Earth-like planets at other stars, and other discoveries hinting at life beyond the Earth. We’ll explore worlds both close to home and far away as we look at the prospects of finding extraterrestrial life. We’ll review basics about light and the methods that astronomers use to probe the vast distances of the universe. The class is designed for those interested in astronomy, but no strong or recent background in science is required.
