A Life in Opera: Celebrating the Trailblazing Talents of Leontyne Price

February 16, 2017 @ 12:15 pm1:00 pm
| Cost: $4 | Cost for Members: $2

Join Kevin Rhodes and Ms. Othalie Graham for a very special afternoon of discussion and music – celebrating the life, legacy and talents of American soprano, Leontyne Price (whose 90th birthday falls just days before this event). Ms. Price studied opera at Berkshire Music Center and the Julliard School, and was the first African American to perform with New York City’s Metropolitan Opera. While she began her career and honed her craft during a time of civil unrest and discrimination in this country, she went on to become one of Opera’s most talented, respected and sought-after sopranos, worldwide.  This is an enlightening and educational discussion for music lovers and historians alike – with a chance to win tickets to the performance – don’t miss it!

The audience is invited to bring a lunch to enjoy during the program.
