The fluidity and transparency of watercolor make it an excellent choice for painting skies, but achieving the subtlety and edge qualities that make a sky painting really successful can be frustratingly difficult. Explore different approaches, from the uniform graded wash of a cloudless day to the riot of color in a dramatic sunset. Some experience with watercolors is recommended. Bring a lunch.
