Seussian Gallery Activities

Wear your pajamas! Join the celebration and wear your comfiest, coziest pajamas for the biggest Dr. Seuss’ Birthday Party around!

Dr. Seuss Cakes & Decorations, 10 am-3 pm
See the real cakes and alternative creations throughout the galleries in every building, including a Seussian ice sculpture on the Quadrangle.

And To Think That He Saw It In Springfield, 10 am-5 pm
This exhibit explores how Dr. Seuss family and childhood in Springfield influenced his books.

PJs DJ Dance Party, 10 am-2:30 pm
Dance to your favorite tunes at this party for all ages. DJ Dave will spin the hits and play games to celebrate our favorite author’s 113th birthday!

Balloons with Professors Knows A. Lot and Friends, 10:30 am-2:30 pm
Twisting, bending, shaping balloons – what kind will you choose?

More Wild Than You Think, 10:30 am-2:30 pm
What makes the Cat in the Hat so wild?  Learn about real-life feline adaptation by getting up close to tracks, furs, skulls, claws, and teeth of the Cat’s wild friends!

Color Pajamas on Horton, 10:30 am-2:30 pm
Give everyone’s favorite elephant a new outfit and help him join in the celebration!  Design your own pajamas on a 3D paper elephant.

Digital Dr. Seuss, 10:30 am-2:30 pm
Read and explore short stories from our favorite author digitally on the museum’s tablets.  While batteries last.
 
Dr. Seuss Photo Booth, 10:30 am-2:30 pm
Grab a Seussian prop to take some fun and memorable family photos.

Seuss Trivia, 10:30 am-2:30 pm
Spin the big wheel, answer a trivia question, and win a prize!  Questions are suitable for all ages, prizes while supplies last.

Seuss Puppet Theaters, 10:30 am-2:30 pm
Create your own performance with our Seuss shadow puppet and finger puppet theaters.

Yertle the Turtle Guest Book, 10:30 am-2:30 pm
Add your turtle to our tower and make your mark at the museum!  Decorate and sign your own shell on our guestbook mural, and visit the Turtle Power special exhibit.

The Life and Times of Dr. Seuss, 10:30 am-2:30 pm
Ted Geisel’s life spanned nearly all of the 20th century, a fascinating time of fast-paced changes in American life.  Learn how Dr. Seuss’s life coincided with some of the biggest events of the 1900s.  Help arrange a timeline of Ted Geisel’s and America’s highlights.

Take a Break Space 10 am-3:30 pm
For families who need a quiet moment off the beaten path or nursing mothers who would like a semi-private place to feed their babies, this space is for you.

Cat’s Hat Bookmark, noon-4 pm
Make and take art activity in the Art Discovery Center.

Seuss Storytime, 10:30 am-2:30 pm
Especially for our littlest visitors! Gather on the rug to read some of his simplest books aloud together. Drop in and stay for one book or even two or three.

Sing Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss, 3 pm
Sing in honor of our favorite author and enjoy a cookie.

All free with museum admission!
