Summer Spectacular Activities

The Museums are open seven days a week and we invite you to play, explore, and create with us. Free with museum admission!

U.S. Fish & Wildlife, 10:30 am-3:30 pm
Visit our friends from Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge to learn about our world! Quadrangle Green (Rain location: Mammal Hall, First Floor, Springfield Science Museum)

Tricera-Toss, 11 am-3 pm
Toss a ring on a triceratops’ horn! Quadrangle Green (Rain Location: Science Workshop, Second Floor, Springfield Science Museum)

Excavation Station, 11 am-3 pm
Become a paleontologist and uncover hidden dinosaurs at our excavation station! Quadrangle Green (Rain Location: Loggia, GWV Smith Art Museum)

Dino-Might Night Light, 11 am-3 pm

Tyra the T-Rex Says… Stomp like a T-Rex! Swing your tail like a Stegosaurus! Spin the wheel to play Tyra the T-Rex Says. Quadrangle Green (Rain Location: Dinosaur Hall, First Floor, Springfield Science Museum)

The Science of Sunshine, 11 am-3 pm

A New Way to See the Sun, 11 am-3 pm
Is there a safe way to look at the sun from Earth? Yes! Observe the sun using the museum’s new hydrogen alpha filter and transmitting from the rooftop observatory. Science Workshop, Second Floor, Springfield Science Museum

Introduction to Seymour Planetarium, 12:30 pm
Join us for a 5- to 10-minute program to learn what you can see in a planetarium and how it works. Discover a constellation and see how our projectors work together to display the heavens for you. Seating is limited; available first come, first serve. Second Floor, Springfield Science Museum.
