Mark Twain coined the term ‘Gilded Age’ to describe the affluence of late-nineteenth century USA. Wealthy industrialists and bankers built gorgeous houses with elaborate furniture and fine artwork. Their lavish lifestyle continued into the twentieth century, and we still live with many of its effects. This class is about the period, its interests, and especially its Food. There will be examples to taste and recipes.
