Through her Urbanscapes series of paintings, Western Massachusetts artist Barbara Johnson contemplates time in scenes from the urban and industrial landscape. Drawing on vast influences, including the poet Robert Frost, artist Charles Sheeler, 17th Century Dutch painters, and vanitas paintings, Johnson captures the world around her and its legacy. Join Johnson as she documents the origin of this series, how locations across Western Massachusetts, New England, and media informed her work, and the artistic process.
