Enjoy orchestra prime seating for Franco Zeffirelli’s Turandot at the Metropolitan Opera. This dazzling vision of mythic China retakes the stage with audience favorites soprano Christine Goerke as the legendary—and lethal—title princess, opposite tenor Roberto Alagna as the valiant prince who puts his life on the line to win her love. Soprano Olga Kulchynska performs as Liù, with SeokJong Baek as Calaf, and Soloman Howard as Timur. Conducted by Maestro Marco Armiliato. This opera premiered at Teatro alla Scala, Milan in April 1926. En route, Walter Carroll will provide an enlightening lecture on the music and artistry of this popular opera. A boxed lunch before the performance is included.
