Explore the rich history of the development of the museum, using the Michele and Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts as an example of how a museum has been organized. In the subsequent weeks, lectures will focus on five lesser-known, smaller museums that offer exquisite, unique collections in intimate settings. We’ll explore their unique histories, learn how they have been curated, and examine their collections. Some of those museums to be “visited” are the Williamsburg, VA (a town as a museum), Dulwich Picture Gallery (Greater London), the Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), and the Musée de Nissim de Camando (Paris) and the Auschiwtz-Birkenau Museum (Oswiecim, Poland).
