Join us for a fun and relaxing day in the studio creating a warm winter landscape in soft pastel. Whether it’s warm light on the snow or the glow on branches and tree trunks, there’s plenty of warmth in the winter. The workshop will begin with a one-hour demo with the emphasis on creating a strong underpainting with pastel and rubbing alcohol. Several specific techniques used to get that glow will be presented and discussed. After the demo, attendees will create several thumbnails to simplify the scene and create a strong composition before beginning their larger pastel painting. There will be plenty of individual instruction at your easel. Bring several of your favorite winter landscape photos/iPad to choose from. Everyone will leave with a finished pastel painting. Remember to pack your lunch.
