As human beings, we recognize we are mortal. Every civilization, every religious belief has some vision of an afterlife, and all beings strive to get to that eternal, blissful Joy. This lecture will look at two distinct moments, two infinitely dissimilar civilizations: ancient Egypt and medieval France, in order to measure how they sought to build that “stairway to Paradise.”
Presented by Dr. Simon P. Sibelman, Professor Emeritus of French and Holocaust Studies, University of Wisconsin Oshkosh
