This course examines the achievements and contributions of women artists from the Middle Ages to the present, emphasizing their impact across a wide range of artistic disciplines, from traditional painting to contemporary performance art. Students will analyze artworks through the lens of Social Construction Theory, exploring how factors such as gender, race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, and age influence both artistic production and reception. A foundational understanding of Feminist Art History will be developed through the study of cultural contexts and the critical analysis of diverse visual imagery.
