The Moon

Women of the Night Sky

February 13, 2025 @ 12:15 pm1:30 pm
| Cost: $4 | Cost for Members: FREE

Have you ever looked up and marveled at the constellations, wondering about mankind’s place in the universe? The Director of the Springfield Science Museum invites you to ponder women’s place in the universe too!  As a planetarium enthusiast, she has attended many shows that often focus on men as masters of the night sky, from early astronomers who first mapped the heavens to more recent times when male astronauts walked on the moon.  Her goal is to create new exhibitions, and planetarium shows that will allow girls and women to see themselves as heroines, scientists, and explorers of space in their own right.  This lecture will combine women associated with our Night Sky and heroines who are making astronomy more accessible to everyone, everywhere.

Presented by Jenny Powers, director, Springfield Science Museum
