Michele & Donald D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts, First Floor

This exhibition celebrates the diverse photography collection at the D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts. The unique perspective of individual photographers illustrates their varied perspectives, where their interests lie and how this translates to the photographic medium.  From serious to playful, the images capture elements of nature and society through carefully conceived compositions.

Most of the photographs on display were created before the digital camera and digital manipulation options were available and therefore required manual manipulation either while the photograph was being created or during its developed in the dark room. Many of the artists in the exhibition have earned international recognition and others are well known on the regional level. They include: Richard Buswell, Mark Chester, Jess Dugan, James Fuller, Stephen Gersh, Phillippe Halsman, Brian Peterson, Jack Radetsky, Abe Rezny, Barry Rosenthal, John Roy, Sheron Rupp and several unknown photographers. Each artist offers a unique vision and authority to contemporary photography.
