Marionettes to Perform Hansel & Gretel at the Springfield Museums

The Springfield Museums’ Family Fun series will continue on Friday, November 11, with a performance of Hansel & Gretel. Family activities will take place from 10 am to 4 pm and are free with museum admission unless noted.


Family Fun programs are sponsored by TD Bank through the TD Charitable Foundation.

Performance, 1 pm

  • Hansel and Gretel by the National Marionette Theatre – The story of Hansel and Gretel has captured the imagination of audiences for generations. In the National Marionette Theatre’s adaptation of this classic tale, two master puppeteers bring the most famous of the Grimm Brothers’ stories to life. People of all ages will enjoy the exquisitely crafted marionettes, scrolling scenery, and music of Engelbert Humperdinck.

Ongoing Activities

  • Scavenger Hunts – Search for objects in the galleries of the art and history museums, 10 am-3:45 pm
  • Roving Scientist Demonstrations, 11 am-2 pm
  • Planetarium Shows – 11:15 am, noon, 1 and 2 pm (additional fee)
  • Hands-on art activities – Create a colorful candy magnet, play gallery games, and try on costumes; noon-4 pm
