School Vacation Fun

The Springfield Museums have planned a week of prehistoric fun during February school vacation. "Dinosaur Daze" activities will be offered from February 19 through 23 and are free with museum admission unless noted.


February school vacation week activities are sponsored by Woronoco Savings Charitable Foundation. Scheduled performances: Two shows daily, noon & 2:30 p.m., Museum of Fine Arts auditorium. Monday, Feb. 19 – "AbraKIDabra," a magic show by Mike Bent. Tuesday, Feb. 20 – "Why Did the Dinosaur Cross the Road?" by two funny paleontologists from Juggle Joy Educational Entertainment. Wednesday, Feb. 21 – "Having Fun with Fossils and Dinosaurs" by Paulette Morin. Thursday, Feb. 22 – "Pattysaurus and Other Tales" by storyteller Diane Edgecomb. Friday, Feb. 23 – "Dinoman Dinosaurs" by Dinoman and his inflatable friends. Ongoing activities: Visit the special exhibit of robotic dinosaurs, Life Through Time: Dinosaurs and Ice Age Mammals, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Springfield Science Museum ($3 special exhibit fee). Enjoy hands-on Family Science Adventures activities, noon-3:45 p.m., Springfield Science Museum. Visit the "Dinosaur Lounge" and watch a dinosaur documentary, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Springfield Science Museum. Make dinosaur crafts, 11:30 a.m.-3:45 p.m., George Walter Vincent Smith Art Museum. See "The Mystery of the Disappearing Dinosaurs" in the planetarium, 2 p.m., Springfield Science Museum (additional fee). Pan for fossils in the Museum Mining Company sluice, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Springfield Science Museum (additional fee).
