Museums to Offer “Trash to Treasure” Preview for Teachers

The Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle will host a free Teacher Preview of their new “Trash to Treasure” school program on November 15, 2012 from 4-6 pm at the Michele & Donald D'Amour Museum of Fine Arts. Refreshments will be served

Based on the colorful work of Lisa Hoke, contemporary installation and sculpture artist, the new program will allow students to explore the relationship of consumerism and recycling in today’s society. Curriculum connections include cooperation, discussion, elements and principles of design.

Educators will also have the opportunity to learn about the many programs offered for school groups in the art, history and science museums, as well as upcoming special exhibits and events. Teachers, school administrators, and PTO members are welcome to bring an adult guest. Teachers who attend the workshop can submit pre- and post-visit lesson plans and/or activities to museum staff to receive PDPs.

To attend, please call 413.263.6800, ext. 322, or send an email to  schooltours@springfieldmuseums.org, or go to www.springfieldmuseums.org.

Free onsite parking is available.
