The Springfield Museums have hired William J. Noonan as Director of Security.
Noonan, a Springfield resident, recently retired after a 35-year career with the Springfield Police Department, where he attained the rank of Deputy Chief of Police. His most recent position was Commanding Officer of the Juvenile and Special Crimes Unit. He also served as Commanding Officer of the Detective Bureau and as ranking line supervisor for the Community Policing unit, among other assignments.
In addition, Noonan has served as a consultant to other police forces in the area, was appointed to the Governor’s Statewide Anti-Crime Council, and has been an instructor at a number of regional colleges and criminal justice training programs.
Noonan holds a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Westfield State University.
