Halloween Fun for Families at the Springfield Museums

The Springfield Museums is excited to present Halloween Sweet Science, Saturday, October 30, 10 am-5 pm, free with Museums admission.

A day of fun for the whole family, the Museums will present entertainment, STEM education activities, and treats that include free books.

“Wear your costume,” said Family Engagement Coordinator Jenny Powers, “go trick or treating in the galleries, and enjoy music and science experiments!”

Program Highlights

Dancing Skeletons, 11 am-2 pm
Meet and greet Anne Cubberly’s giant puppet skeletons as they roam the Quadrangle.

Halloween Book Fair, 11 am-3 pm
Thanks to Springfield’s Reading Success by 4th Grade, we have Halloween books! At our pop-up book fair you can choose one (or two or three!) to take home.

Ongoing Activities

Trick or Treat through the Museums, 11 am-3 pm
Wear your costume, sweet or scary (but family appropriate!) and visit themed tables all five museums to collect candy, candy, and more candy!

Songs and Sounds of Halloween, 11 am-3 pm
Join DJ Earl Grayson as he spins the greatest Halloween hits! Stop and dance or sing-a-long to a spooky tune.

Sweet Science, 11 am-3 pm
Find the roving scientists for on-the-spot science so cool it’s practically magic. Experiments will include channeling current electricity, creating a cloud in a bottle, and more.

Gothic Music Floating over the Quad, 12-2 pm
Beautiful, eerie sounds float out of Christ Church Cathedral, over the granite, and onto grassy Quadrangle. Enjoy the historic music and even walk through the fence and inside to get a peek at the organ.
