Now Is the Time to Get Creative!
“I am not comfortable drawing. This is mostly because I am inexperienced and it is very frustrating. But now I was drawing. After the first class, my mindset had shifted.”
Have you long thought about taking an art class but held yourself back because of time constraints, the hassle of getting to class, or were worried about your skill level? Have you enjoyed taking art classes in the past and miss being able to go to the studio because of COVID-19? Have you thought about learning a new skill or hobby like coding or uncovering family genealogy but didn’t know where to start? If you answered yes to any of these questions Museum School online classes might be right for you! Here are five great reasons to dive into online classes with the Springfield Museums this summer.
Connect with new people
Joining an online class is a great way to meet new people who share similar interests. If you have been craving connection after staying home these past few months our classes are a safe and engaging place to do so! Students of all different skill levels and backgrounds join in to make dynamic and engaging learning experiences.
“In regard to the class aspect of the course, I could see the work of my classmates and I liked getting to work with them even though we were all in different rooms, in different towns – we were together in our class, drawing and chatting.” -Samantha W.
Learn from passionate instructors
Our instructors are highly skilled professionals in their fields and bring years of teaching and practical experience into the digital classroom. We have brought together amazing artists, writers, genealogists, scientists, and beyond who are here to help you expand your horizons and tap into your unlimited potential.
“Don is very interested in his students and their progress as artists, and very supportive. In particular, he gives an enormous amount of time and effort to look at and make comments on students’ drawings during the days between classes…Don is a terrific teacher, and I would recommend his classes to anyone, of any age. Finally, he is himself a very good artist…seeing examples of his drawings and paintings has been a high point of the classes I’ve taken.”-Scott N.
Change the way you see the world and yourself!
Learning a new artistic skill is as rewarding as it is transformative. Instructors will teach you how to view the world through new eyes and encourage you to slow down and really look. You will be thinking like an artist in no time!
“I am not comfortable drawing. This is mostly because I am inexperienced and it is very frustrating. But now I was drawing. After the first class, my mindset had shifted. I thought of the class every day. I thought about it as I observed everything and gauged my angle of perspective, even just looking at the tree in my backyard.”-Samantha W.
Learn and grow from the comfort of your own home
Just because the world may seem like it’s on pause right now doesn’t mean that your creativity has to be! Jump into a new creative outlet or hobby without ever having to leave your house. Taking online classes means you don’t have to worry about extra time driving or lugging your supplies around. You get all the benefits of working closely with talented instructors and peers without any of the hassle.
“I truly appreciate how you have extended yourself in this weird time to make sure we are receiving instruction in the best quality available formats and you are flexible in creating plain-air as well as online instruction. I’m learning so much from you, especially about color mixing, composition and strategy of approaching the blank canvas.”-Mariann T.
