During the 19th century, families found that they had more leisure time to pursue outdoor and indoor activities. Currier & Ives published a number of “puzzle pictures,” scenes in which viewers looked for concealed images. Here, a man on horseback rides past the waterwheel of a mill. Hidden in the surrounding landscape are the shapes of people and animals. How many can you find?
