Life Through Time: Dinosaurs and Ice Age Mammals

June 14, 2014–September 14, 2014 Springfield Science Museum » Second Floor

Springfield Science Museum, Second Floor

See stomping, roaring, robotic dinosaurs and life-like Ice Age mammals come to life!  Experience the thrill of meeting these enormous prehistoric creatures up close, including Maiasaura, Apatosaurus, Pachycephalosaurus, and T-rex, along with a Woolly Mammoth and a family of Smilodon saber-toothed cats. The robotic giants are based on actual evidence from fossil records, scientific literature, and input from professional paleontologists. The random movements of each animatronic animal are individually programmed and powered by an intricate compressor system.

Visitors young and old will feel like true paleontologists while sifting through a “dino dig” box and two fossil rub stations and exploring host of educational displays, including full-size dinosaur models, fossil skeletons, footprints, and many vertebrate and invertebrate fossils.

Created by Kokoro of Japan and Los Angeles.

$5 special exhibition fee for all visitors ages 3 and up in addition to museum admission.
