The celebration, one of the most popular of the Museums’ annual events, is part of the Family Fun series which is supported by the TD Charitable Foundation. Activities are free with museum admission unless otherwise noted.
Performances:
- Animals Around the World with the Creature Teachers (10:30 am-12:30 pm, SIS Hall, Wood Museum of Springfield History). Explore the diverse habitats of our planet and the animals that inhabit them.
- Ed Popielarczyk’s Comedy Magic Show. (Two shows – 1 & 3 pm. Davis Auditorium, D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts.) A magic act with a special twist. Ed doesn’t just “do a trick,” but he tells a story that revolves around each one. Audience members are called up on stage to help make the magic happen! Seating is limited.
Ongoing activities:
- Dr. Seuss Cake Contest – View Seuss-inspired confections and enter to win one of the entries by voting for your favorite (10:30 am – 3:15 pm). At 4 p.m., the results of the voting and the raffle winners will be announced (must be present to win raffle).
- Ongoing art activities (10 am- 4 pm, Art Discovery Center, GWVS Art Museum; also 11 am – 3 pm, Science Museum Workshop)
- Meet the Cat in the Hat as he roams the museum galleries.
- Family Science Adventures (11 am – 2 pm, Science Museum). Interactive science demonstrations for the whole family.
- Seymour Planetarium shows, Science Museum (11:15 am, noon, 1 & 2 pm; additional fee).
