Bring a picnic supper, a blanket or a lawn chair and join the Springfield Museums and the Armoury-Quadrangle Civic Association for “Wednesdays in the Park,” a series of three free live music concerts by local musicians. The concerts will be held on three Wednesdays in August from 6 to 8 pm on the Quadrangle green. If it rains, the performances will be held in the auditorium of the D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts.
- August 3 – Eva Cappelli and the Watershops Band. The group performs a mix of original blues, folk, country, rock, and “torch songs” with 1940s-’50s styling. Among the band members is lead guitarist Joe Carvalho, former president of the Springfield Museums.
- August 10 – Springfield High School of Science and Technology Jazz Band. Local students show off their musical talent.
- August 17 – Marta Piñero y su Grupo Sum Sum. This Merengue and Bachata band keeps your summer alive with hot Latin music.
“Wednesdays in the Park” is sponsored in part by a grant to the Armoury-Quadrangle Civic Association from the Springfield Cultural Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
Free, secure onsite parking is available.
