The Springfield Museums are thrilled to celebrate community, diversity and equality at the fourth annual Family Pride Day, on Saturday, June 21, from 10 am-5 pm. Free with museum admission.
“We encourage people of all ages to join us for a blend of new celebrations and annual favorites during our fourth Family Pride Day,” says Abby Garner, Family Engagement Coordinator at the Springfield Museums.
Family Pride Day mixes hands-on activities with highlights that provide a one-time-only experience for visitors. In addition to annual favorites such as pride day weaving and designing pride flags, the Museums are excited to include Loud & Proud, a limited-edition planetarium show that features tunes from icons like Hayley Kiyoko, Chappell Roan, Elton John, Lady Gaga, and more! With a rainbow of programming for all to enjoy, Family Pride Day offers everyone the opportunity to gather, uplift the LGBTQIA+ community, and emphasize our pride in who we are.
“Family Pride Day has become a wonderful tradition! We look forward to welcoming families to the Museums and celebrating together,” states Larissa Murray, Director of Education.
Face Painting with Professor Knows A Lot, 11 am-2 pm
Carrie Ferguson & the Grumpytime Club Band, 1 pm
Join us for an engaging musical performance that is fun for the whole family!
Loud & Proud Planetarium Show, 4 pm
Celebrate Pride Month with a sampling of popular music from LGBTQ+ artists from the last 50 years accompanied by kaleidoscope light show effects. From Broadway and new wave to R&B and country, a variety of musical genres will leave something for everyone to enjoy. Tickets available day-of in the Welcome Center on a first come, first served basis.
Design Your Own Pride Flag, 10:30 am-4 pm
Paper Quilt Squares, 11 am-3 pm
Use geometric shapes to create your own quilt square. Add it to our community mural or bring it home.
Pride Day Weaving, 11 am-3 pm
Make your mark—weave a thread into this ongoing Family Pride Day tradition.
Make a Magnet, 11 am-3 pm
Design and assemble a magnet to capture the memories of Family Pride Day!
Origami, 12-4 pm
Make a heart or bookmark using origami folding techniques.
