The Springfield Museums will celebrate December School Vacation Week with a Medieval Faire. Visitors will enter the magical world of lords, ladies, and knights in shining armor. Activities are free with the price of museum admission. December school vacation week programs are sponsored by Verizon. Daily: Members of the Society of Creative Anachronism will help us recreate the life of the Middle Ages with re-enactments of knights in battle, demonstrations of medieval artistry, and performances of music and dance. Monday, Dec. 26: Creatures of the Middle Ages 1 p.m. – Learn magic from the Revlak School of Magic & Wizardry with performer Bruce Kalver; Museum of Fine Arts. Noon – 3:30 p.m. – Make your own gargoyle puppets and "stained glass" windows; G.W.V. Smith Art Museum. Tuesday, Dec. 27: Stories of the Middle Ages 1 p.m. – Enjoy a performance of The Minstrel's Revels with Mary Jo Maichack; Museum of Fine Arts. Noon – 3:30 p.m. – Create illuminated manuscripts and "stained glass" windows; G.W.V. Smith Art Museum. Wednesday, Dec. 28: Medieval Myths 1 p.m. – Watch a beautiful, life-sized puppet show of Sleeping Beauty, performed by the Tanglewood Marionettes; Museum of Fine Arts. Noon – 3:30 p.m. – Make a shield with mythological creatures and a "stained glass" window; G.W.V. Smith Art Museum. Thursday, Dec. 29: A Medieval Village 1 p.m. – Learn medieval dances with live music and win a prize for best medieval costume at our Medieval Ball; Science Museum. Noon – 3:30 p.m. – Try your hand at calligraphy and make a "stained glass" window; G.W.V. Smith Art Museum. Friday, Dec. 30: A Medieval Tournament 1 p.m. – "The Great Scot" performs a medieval magic show; Museum of Fine Arts. Noon – 3:30 p.m. – Make your own royal crown and "stained glass" window; G.W.V.
