Reptiles: The Beautiful and the Deadly at the Springfield Science Museum

Live Reptile Exhibit Opens with Family Activities

The special exhibit Reptiles: The Beautiful and the Deadly will open at the Springfield Museums on Saturday, January 15, with a day of family activities.


Activities will take place from 10 am to 5 pm and are free with museum admission unless noted.  Reptiles: The Beautiful and the Deadly is sponsored by United Bank.

Special Exhibits
Reptiles: The Beautiful and the Deadly, twenty exotic live reptiles from around the world ($5 special exhibit fee for all visitors ages 3 and up in addition to museum admission.)
Robots: The Interactive Exhibition, an exhibit based on the movie Robots!. ($5 special exhibition fee for all visitors ages 3 and up in addition to museum admission.)
Note: A combination ticket to see both special exhibits is $7.50.

Performance, 1 pm
Premium Live Reptile Show presented by Animal Adventures – An expert “adventure guide” will introduce a variety of exotic creatures in this fun, educational program.

Ongoing Activities
Hands-on art activity – Color a canvas snake, 11:30 am-3 pm
Hands-on art activity – Make a chomping alligator clip, noon-3:45 pm
I Spy scavenger hunt through the D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts, 11 am-3:45 pm
Roving Scientist Demonstrations, 1-3:30 pm
Planetarium Shows – 11:15 am, noon, 1 and 2 pm (additional fee)
