Live Wolf, Owls Featured at Museums' Vacation Programs

Special demonstrations and performances taking place at the Davis Auditorium, D’Amour Museum of Fine Arts include:

  • Monday 2/16 (11 am) Prismatic Magic presents Laser Safari. Dazzling laser light show exploring the Amazon Rainforest and Africa's Serengeti.
  • Tuesday 2/17 (11 am) Wolf Talk Educational Programs presents Wolf Talk. Discussion of wolf behavior in captivity featuring a live Ambassador Wolf.
  • Wednesday 2/18 (three shows – 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm) Eyes on Owls presents Owls of the World: Who’s Watching You? Featuring six live owls, from small to huge!
  • Thursday 2/19 (11 am & 1 pm) Rainforest Reptiles. Dynamic presentation includes live alligators, turtles and snakes from the neo-tropical and sub-tropical rainforests.
  • Friday 2/20 (two shows, 11 am & 1 pm) Animal Adventures presents their Premium Live Animal Show, featuring a variety of large live animals including several exotic ones.  

Visitors can also explore the Springfield Science Museum’s newest exhibit, Animal Secrets, an interactive experience designed to allow children 3-8 the chance to explore the hidden lives of forest animals, and also Above the Fold: New Expressions in Origami at the D’Amour Museum ($5 special exhibition fee applies to both exhibits).

Reptile demonstrations from the Science Museum’s Solutia Live Animal Center will take place Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday  from 2-4 pm. (Sorry, no handling of animals by guests allowed.) Rounding out the week’s activities will be the following daily events:

  • Seymour Planetarium Shows at 11:15 am, noon, 1 & 2 pm, Science Museum (additional fee applies)
  • Art Activities, 11 am-4 pm, Science Museum Workshop
  • Gallery Science Demonstrations 11 am-2 pm, Science Museum
  • Art Discovery Center, Noon – 4 pm, GWVS Art Museum

 

The All About Animals school vacation week program is sponsored by United Bank and The Irene E. and George A. Davis Foundation.

There is a special exhibition fee of $5 for all visitors ages 3 and up to view Animal Secrets in addition to museum  admission. The special fee also includes Above the Fold origami exhibit.
