May 2006 Museums à la Carte Programs

The Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle will present the following Museums à la Carte programs in May. Museums à la Carte programs are held on Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. in the Museum of Fine Arts.


May 4: Gardening with Emily Dickinson; Ruth Owen Jones, historian and museum interpreter, Emily Dickinson Museum, Amherst. May 11: The Ancient Origins of Writing; Christina Gibbons, English scholar and social historian; 12:15 p.m. May 18: Ten Hours Until Dawn: The True Story of Heroism and Tragedy Aboard the "Can Do"; Michael Tougias, author and columnist. May 25: The Creative Spirit: Artists & Craftsmen of the Valley, 1750-2000; Guy McLain, director, Connecticut Valley Historical Museum. Admission to Museums à la Carte is $4 ($2 for members of the Springfield Museums). The programs are sponsored by Big Y World Class Market. Visitors are invited to bring lunch to enjoy during the program; dessert and beverage are provided.
