The new Museum of Springfield History will conclude its spring lecture series at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 25, with a talk titled “Springfield and the California Gold Rush.” The program will be held in the museum’s SIS Hall and is free with the price of museum admission.

The talk will be presented by Cliff McCarthy, archivist at the Museum of Springfield History.  McCarthy will highlight the fascinating lives of some of the Springfield residents who journeyed west during the Gold Rush. Some of them played important roles in the development of California while others returned home to achieve positions of stature in our own communities. 

The series is co-sponsored by the Pioneer Valley History Network, a coalition of historical museums, libraries, and societies.
